Why You are seeing Traffic Referrals from Blackhatworld and Motherboard.Vice.com on Google Analytics

So recently, I started getting and seeing strange referral traffic from Blackhatworld and Vice.Motherborad.com and it's been going on for the past 5 days. When I looked into my Google Analytics. Going further to investigate, I wanted to know the particular page's URL that was referring that traffic on my Analytics, I clicked - Real Time >> Content and found this URL -
motherboard.vice.com and now, blackhatworld
Still I went further and picked up the second URL -
www.blackhatworld.com/seo/this-guy-not-one-f-ck-given.897424/

Someone Spammed Google Analytics, a Russian man precisely...

Upon visiting that URL, I realised from thread that I am not alone, millions of other web masters viewing their Google Analytics are seeing the same thing, someone had spammed Google Analytics, a Russian to be precise and funny he was doing it to show his support for Donald Trump.

The alleged Motherboard spam. It's not us. Image: Paul Anthony / Twitter

Although last month, As Analytics Edge reported in November, websites have noticed referrals from lifehacĸer.com and ɢoogle.com. Check those URLs again; they are not the real Lifehacker or Google domains.

To be clear, this is not anything that VICE or Motherboard is doing. Instead, someone is including a link to the article in their own Google Analytics spam, and seems they had even added Black hat's article to the spam sites.
The likely explanation is Google's “Measurement Protocol,” which allows developers to send data directly to Google Analytics servers. It looks like the traffic is coming from Motherboard, but, in reality, it's not.

Why did He do this?

As you have read in the headline above, it was to support Donald Trump, the Google analytics Spammer wanted the loads of traffic and wanted all the fame and glory on his own Name, his name is VITALY POPOV, we also found out he wanted revenge on Google for blocking his AdSense account some years back.

We had learnt that this is a temporary issue as Google Spam team is looking into it already.

Although there are controversies surrounding his name due to the fact that someone had bought a domain bearing the spammer's name - vitalypopov.com
The man promised to direct the domain where ever the Spammer wants if Only he agrees to stop Spamming Google Analytics.
At the moment of publishing this post, the domain is only redirecting to UrbanDictionary's page that is carrying description of A**Hole.

"Save Draft" function for Photo Editing might be coming to Instagram soon

A new phenomenon on Instagram has suggested that a "Save Draft" option for photo editing may soon come to Instagram. Towards the end of last month July, some Instagram users began to get the option to save their work as draft after pressing the back button while editing photos in Instagram.

Here are some joyful tweets by lucky users who have gotten the feature:

And many more got theirs this month:
However, when Tech Crunch reached out to the Instagram company, they confirmed that it was just "an experiment for the time being".

We’re always testing new ways to improve the Instagram experience was all an Instagram spokesperson had to say concerning the Save Draft feature.
Even though this might truly be a test and nothing serious, considering the level of joy users exhibited concerning the feature, Instagram might just rethink and decide to fully integrate it into the app. That is left to be seen, after all, all we can do is watch.

Google Maps for Android now allows you to save offline map data to external SD Card

The latest update to Google Maps for Android smartphones is bringing two new features that might interest two different categories of smartphone users: the rich and the poor.

The first new feature is the ability to switch to using only Wi-Fi connectivity for location navigation. This comes handy in situations where you come across a free Wi-Fi network while navigating with Google Maps, and you want to save your mobile data.

To use this feature, simply grab the latest update on the Google Play Store using the button at the end of this post, slide to your Settings Menu and check the place where you would normally find Offline Areas; it has been replaced by a Wi-Fi Only option, which you can enable to stop using your cellular data and load your navigation data through Wi-Fi. This feature may excite those who have the capacity to purchase Wi-Fi data bundles.

Product Manager for Google Maps, Amanda Bishop describes a scenario in which this feature is useful in a blog post:

We’ve all been through this -- whether in our own backyard or a different country. You need to get directions, but you don’t have service. Or you do have service – but it’s spotty – so you find yourself staring at the map in a perpetual state of loading while you sit in your car waiting to find out which way to go. Now, when you know you’ll have spotty service or just want to save on data, you can toggle to “Wi-fi only” to use Google Maps entirely offline on Android.

The second new feature in Google Maps for Android allows you to download location and navigation data for offline areas to your SD card instead of the internal storage. This is particularly useful for those using low-end and mid-range smartphones that possess meager amounts of internal storage.

With this feature, you can now kill two birds with a stone; save for the rainy day when you have abundant megabytes for browsing by downloading map data for your frequent locations to your phone for offline use, and salvage the internal storage on your phone if you have an external SD card. Users of high-end smartphones with ROM capacities of 64GB and upwards won't be too concerned with this.

Amanda Bishop also described a scenario in which this is useful:

Entry-level smartphones come with internal storage capacities as low as 4GB, while higher-end models range between 8GB and 32GB. For many of us, that’s not enough for all the videos, music, apps, and photos we cram onto our beloved smartphones. To ensure that Google Maps users with any storage capacity can download and use offline areas when they need them most, we’ve added the ability to download your offline areas to an external SD card (if your device supports them) on Google Maps for Android. Now you’ll never have to choose between snapping more food photos or the ability to navigate offline.

To enjoy these two new features, you have to update your Google Maps to the latest version. Grab it in the Play Store using the button below.

Android moves Android Nougat closer with Developer Preview 5

The release date of Android 7.0 Nougat is drawing closer, even as Google has released the last in a series of developer previews -- Developer Preview 5 -- for the upcoming Android OS Version.

If you don't know already, a developer preview is kind of a software update where app developers for Android get to view new features in the upcoming OS Version update, test them and start incorporating them into their existing and new apps.

Android Nougat closer with Developer Preview 5

It is received and installed on an Android-running smart device (phones, tablets) and works the way a normal software update or bug patch works. However, to be able to use these developer previews, you would need a compatible device. There's a list of devices that are eligible for developer preview releases, and most of the devices on that list are Nexus devices, which are owned by Google. More on that later.

Developer Preview 5 is the fifth and final delevoper preview release prior to the official rolling out of Android N (Nougat) to devices later this year. It doesn't really include new features to be expected in Android N, but includes the final APIs for Android N and other tools to make sure your apps are ready to go by the time Android Nougat is released.
Here's a list of what is contained in Developer Preview 5:
  • System images for Nexus and other preview devices
  • An emulator that you can use for doing the final testing of your apps to make sure they are ready
  • The final N APIs (API level 24) and latest system behaviors and UI
  • The latest bug fixes and optimizations across the system and in preinstalled apps
Developer Preview 5 is basically for Android Developers who want their apps to work with Android Nougat to make sure their apps can handle the changes to existing android features in Android N, as well as to incorporate new features introduced with Android N into their apps. The latter is optional, of course.
Android developers are encouraged to, after testing Developer Preview 5, publish their apps to Google Play as soon as possible. If you are working on a not-too-large scale and you aren't sure of how your app(s) would perform on a large variety of devices, you can use Google Play's beta testing feature. This feature allows you to release your app(s) to a group of selected Android users, called beta testers. These people test your apps on their various devices and report back to you on the bugs that need to be fixed in the app, features that could be made better...etc, and it's up to you to implement them. Beta testers are normally experienced and know what and what to look out for in a beta app, so don't be afraid. If you are an Android app developer and you've not been hibernation in one ancient forest since the beginning of this year, you should have heard of Android Developer previews. If you fit the above description, all you have to do to get the Developer Preview 5 for Android N is to enroll in the Android Beta program (using an eligible Android device) and you'll receive the preview over-the-air in no time.

Below is the list of devices that are eligible to install and use the Android Developer Previews for Android 7:

  • Google Nexus 5
  • Google Nexus 5X
  • Google Nexus 6P
  • Google Nexus 9
  • Android One (General Mobile 4G) Devices

If you are not an Android Developer and you want to see what this developer review contains, you can flash the update manually..
Lest I forget, Google's Android Engineering team are hosting a Reddit AMA to answer all technical questions about the Developer Preview 5.
Speaking on the release of Developer Preview 5,
"Thanks so much for all of your feedback so far. Please continue to share feedback or requests either in the N Developer Preview issue tracker, N Preview Developer community, or Android Beta community as we work towards the consumer release later this summer. Android Nougat is almost here!"

Amazon Video Update allows you to download to SD Card

You've heard of Amazon Video, right? If you haven't, it's an app that allows you to stream all your favorite movies and shows, in fact anything Video from the web on your smart devices and PCs. All you need is a good smartphone and strong data connection plus enough data access (megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes, what have you...), and of course your time :). It's very similar to Netflix, both requiring you to subscribe with a particular amount of money to enjoy the streaming services for a particular length of time.

Most of you reading this post probably are already using Amazon Video, but did you know you could download your favorite videos to your phone memory, in fact your external SD Card? I bet you didn't.

Well don't go beating yourself over it, you couldn't have known, because Amazon just included that option in the app's latest update. And we've brought to you in a jiffy, with the hope that it may save some extra bytes of data from being burnt out on the internet.

So what do you get with the latest update of Amazon Video?

You get the option to download any movie or video from the app to your phone, and there's even an option there to make the default download location your SD Card, so you don't go hogging the internal memory down with videos and slowing down performance.
This means that whenever you have a long trip ahead and you're not sure of availability of data in the new location, either you're running out of data or the data expiry date is running out and you still got a lot of data left with no time to sit for long hours watching videos, you can now heave a sigh of relief. Whichever is your situation, the latest Amazon Video update has got you covered.

So, How can I download movies from Amazon Video to my SD Card?

There is no long tutorial here, all you have to do is head over to the Google Play Store and grab the latest update. If you're in a hurry to get the update and the process of launching your Google Play Store app and searching for the update seems too long, click on the button below.
What do you think of this new feature in Amazon Video? Do let us know after you've tried it out!

Google has introduced Android Skilling Program in India

Google has introduced a skilling program for Android developers in India, which is aimed at training close to two million developers in various Android skills such as End-to-end Android training and Associate Android Developer Certification.
The launch of the Android Skilling Program in India was announced just recently on the Google India blog, where it was stated that the program is in support of the recently established Skill India initiative of the Indian government, where private and public authority companies and establishments are encouraged to train India's citizens in their respective niches.

Google believes India will have four million software developers by 2018, which prompted them to quickly launch the Android Skilling program in India to capture the country's developers before other software-developing companies do. Furthermore, since just 25% of India's current developers develop for the mobile platform, the Android Skilling program aims to encourage developers to start building and developing for mobile platforms, even as majority of Indians access the internet from these mobile platforms. The Android Skilling program will focus on the following key elements:
  • End-to-end Android Training
  • Training Channels
  • Associate Android Developer Certification

Speaking about the three key elements of the Android Skilling program;

"Last year, together with Udacity, we introduced the Android Nanodegree program in India. Today we are seeing over 11,500 students across India enrolling every month. And only two weeks ago, we launched the Android Basics Nanodegree with Udacity so that we have an end to end path—from zero to hero—for Android Development without having to send all of our students to many different places to learn the prerequisites. Today we are announcing The Android Developer Fundamentals course, a specially-designed instructor-led training program that will be made available across public and private universities and training institutes of the National Skill Development Corporation of India. This in-person training will be integrated with Computer Science curricula of universities within this calendar year. The Android Developer Fundamentals course material will also be covered on NPTEL (an IIT Madras project in collaboration with the IITs and IISc) as part of its online Mobile Computing course starting July 18, 2016. The Android Developer Fundamentals reference course and all practicals and courseware will be available as Open Source to everyone for free. All details of the program and courses can be found here."

"In addition to partnering with the National Skill Development Corporation of India, we have teamed up with training partners like Edureka, Koenig, Manipal Global, Simplilearn, Udacity and UpGrad who will operate as Authorized Android Training Partners in India. We are working closely with them to train their trainers and to update their Android courseware to prepare their students for the Android Certification and a career in Android development."

"To support potential Android developer employers, we are also launching a globally-recognised, job-oriented, Associate Android Developer Certification—a performance-based exam, that will help candidates obtain entry-level Android Developer jobs in the Industry."

If you're a developer in India and you are interested in the Android Skilling program, log on to the Google Training Certification website and take the certification exam. However, you'll have to part with 6,500 INR (Indian Rupees) before you can take the exam. We are looking forward to when Google would launch a similar initiative to the Android Skilling program in African countries.

VIRUS ALERT! Over 850k devices affected by A New Godless Android malware

This malware seem to have already gone viral and out of control, targeting over 850,000 Android devices that had been affected.
There had been confirmation by TREND MICRO (a Security firm) that the new malware is known as "Godless" (ANDROIDOS_GODLESS.HRX) that especially targets Android devices having a set of rooting exploits in its pocket, it uses multiple methods to exploit and can attack virtually devices running Android Lollipop or lower versions.

How the Godless Android Malware attacks:

It was found out that the malware utilizes the open source android-rooting-tools framework, which contains exploits for well-known vulnerabilities such as PingPongRoot and Towelroot.
Once it finds its way onto a device and roots it, the malware installs a backdoor for remote access that can be used to download unwanted apps and advertisements, as well as apps that can spy on users.

Its Distribution

The malware is distributed via infected apps, even those on PlayStore are not innocent of it. As it aslo exists on utility apps like your Flashlight, Wi-Fi apps and exists in some popular games. One app was unleashed to have the malware, the malicious app is known as  “Summer Flashlight” that contains the malicious Godless code.

Interestingly, Trend Micro also unveiled that there are clean apps on the Play Store that contain the same developer's certificate through which the malware can be distributed. Once any upgrade is made, the user may be attacked by the malware without knowing it.

As much as clean Apps may be affected on Playstore, it is advised that users should always have antivirus apps installed and also practice safe browsing and installation of popular games and apps by using only trusted stores on Amazon and Google Play. They're advised to also carefully look out for app reviews.

WhatsApp is Truly Preparing Video Calling feature for users

Okay, a day before Christmas last December 2015, I published a post saying few Reasons WhatsApp Video Call Feature might be a Bad idea, but right now WhatsApp had gone ahead with preparation on new video call feature for the Chat or Instant Messenger App.

The innovation started 6 months back after screenshots of the feature leaked on iOS, this was the same period I published my opinion about it.
Around last week, users reported that a new BETA version 2.16.80 was released and they found the Option to tap a button to make Video Call although it was inactive.
Initially, Call button takes you directly place your call, but on this new update, you will find option to make either a Voice or Video Call.

The WhatsApp team is still testing things out, and from what we learnt, this update will be rolled out to Beta Testers and some Countries before eventually and gradually sending it out Globally since the team will have more amount of data to handle for billions of users after releasing the Video call feature.

How the New Instagram logo was Made

The logo of most popular Social media photo sharing app, Instagram had gotten new look, precisely the look was applied to its Icon, which is also a logo that had always been accustomed with its other alphabetically-written logo.
The official handle of the App went on today to disclose the new change on their account:

"We have New look! Our updated icon stays true to the camera and rainbow. The Simpler design puts focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app"

Something else that seem to have gone viral is a GIF about How the New Instagram logo was Made.

How the New Instagram logo was Made

Is that GIF a diss saying the new logo was an immature idea or what? We don't quite get it but people had been laughing about that GIF and there are so many users who are not willing to Update their Instagram app because they do not like the new change.

Below is a photo of Vikander,.... she does looks fit to be Lara Croft. Doesn't she?

She’ll stay in the limelight this year with Tulip Fever, Jason Bourne, and The Light Between Oceans. These are also quite remarkable movies to watch out for.

And as for a new Tomb Raider Movie and of course the new Tomb Raider Video Game, nothing had been announced yet but it won't take too long for both a New Lara Croft movie and Game to be released,
Angelina Jolie is out,
Expect a new face. Vikander is the new Lara Croft.

MediaTek COO Just Unleashed Specs Of Upcoming Helio X30 Processor

In as much as the Apple iPhone, BlackBerry and Samsung released incredible processors for their latest flagships, Chinese OEM smartphone processor manufacturer MediaTek’s COO is not backing down.

MediaTek has come out and said the upcoming Helio X30 SoC could stand and even beat off the top chips from its rivals, Qualcomm and Samsung. According to them, the specification of the The Helio X30 will be another 10-core SoC, with two 1.0Ghz Cortex A53 cores,
two 1.5Ghz A53 cores,
two 2Ghz A72 cores
and four 2.5Ghz A72 cores.

Although we are not yet clear if it will be on a 20nm chip or 16nm.

This should be a thing of joy for Infinix, Tecno, Innjoo and other Users of MTK phones.
We had last year; seen the latest Helio X10 appear in the Infinix Zero 3 which indeed made the smartphone outstanding and smooth in terms of speed and multi-tasking. And we know Other smarptohnes, including Tecno, Innjoo, Xiaomi and many other popular devices use MediaTek (MTK)
Looking at the what they are about to release in the X30 processor, it's definite the chipset company is carrying all its chinese OEM devices along.

Infinix Mobility is coming with HOT3 Confirmed by This Teaser

While we are still basking on the Infinix Zero 3 and Infinix Note 2, released some months ago, we discovered recently yesterday Infinix Mobility posted a teasing picture on Facebook and Twitter which suggest that something is coming soon.

Their HOT series is the most popular series of Infinix Mobility. The very first version (Hot X507 which had generated over 50k views here on editweaks) was a best seller in 2014, surpassing all the “big players” in terms of sales volume.

Last year, the No.1 online smartphone brand in Africa captured West African market with the release of Infinix HOT2 as ‘African’s first and only Android One smartphone’.

What to expect from the upcoming Infinix HOT3?
With the tag line “Selfie with soft flash makes life colorful”, future users should expect high resolution front camera with the new lifestyle smartphone from Infinix Mobility.

When will it be released? What will be the screen and body size of the device. We are yet to confirm but we will likely tell you in our subsequent posts.
