Infinix Hot 6 Specs & Price in Nigeria, Cote D'Ivoire and Kenya

The Infinix Hot 6 is the standard iteration of the Infinix Hot series in 2018, and it was launched earlier in May alongside its higher variant, the Infinix Hot 6 Pro. The two smartphones are identical both inside and outside, and the only difference between them is in the memory department.

The Infinix Hot 6 comes with a beautiful design with one of the latest design trends in the smartphone world; 18:9 aspect ratio. It also sports a feature that camera and selfie freaks would love; dual cameras on its rear. These, with a huge battery capacity and latest software features, make the Infinix Hot 6 a mid-range smartphone worth buying.

Infinix Hot 6 Specifications Review

The Infinix Hot 6 has the same specifications and features as the Infinix Hot 6 Pro, apart from the internal storage where it has a capacity of 16GB in place of the Hot 6 Pro's 32GB, and the RAM size which is 2GB in place of the Hot 6 Pro's 3GB. Otherwise, both devices are identical.

We already discussed the specifications of the Infinix Hot 6 and Hot 6 Pro here. If you want a summary of the device's features, check them out below.

Infinix Hot 6 Price and Availability

The Infinix Hot 6 costs N51,000 in Nigeria, 72,000 FCFA in Cote D'Ivoire and KES 13,699 in Kenya. The smartphone can be purchased from offline and online retail stores across the country.

Infinix Hot 6 Pro Specs & Price in Nigeria, Cote D'Ivoire and Kenya

When the Infinix Hot S was announced two years ago, we thought the existing Infinix Hot series was going to be scrapped. It wasn't, however, as Infinix Mobility decided to keep both series running simultaneously, resulting in the Hot 5 and Hot S2 the following year. The 2018 iteration of the Hot S series, the Infinix Hot S3 has been released, and it's about time the other one levelled up. Say hello the Infinix Hot 6 Pro.

The Infinix Hot 6 Pro was launched recently alongside its standard variant, the Infinix Hot 6, and it's now available for sale in Kenya, billed to come to Nigeria and other African countries very soon. It differs from its standard variant, the Infinix Hot 6 only in the internal storage and memory capacity, and is otherwise an elegant device with an aesthetically-appealing design, decent internals and a reasonable price.

Infinix Hot 6 Specifications Review

Design & Display

The Infinix Hot 6 Pro comes with a 6-inch IPS display which uses the LCD display technology and has a resolution of 720 * 1,440 pixels (HD+). An HD+ resolution is not too good for a display that large and it should have been made at least Full HD, but it's still an improvement on the Infinix Hot 5's HD display resolution.

The device follows the latest smartphone design trend and sports a metal body design with 18:9  aspect ratio, although it's not bezel-less as some other smartphones are. It sports a fingerprint scanner on the rear and weighs just 153 grammes.

Storage & Performance

The Infinix Hot 6 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor which can operate at a maximum speed of 1.4GHz and uses four cores (quad-core). It's assisted by an Adreno 308 GPU which handles graphics operations.

The smartphone comes with 3GB of RAM for multi-tasking and 32GB of internal storage for file storage. An external microSD card with a size of up to 128GB can be inserted into the appropriate slot on the device to avail the user of extra storage space.

Battery & Camera

The Infinix Hot series has always outed smartphones with large battery capacities, and that's not about to stop. The Infinix Hot 6 Pro packs a 4,000mAh battery that can last for up to two days on average use, but since the phone doesn't come with fast charging technology, it's going to take a while to get a full charge also.

The Hot 6 Pro sports dual 13MP + 2MP cameras with Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) and a dual-tone dual LED flash on the rear. The secondary camera feels like an unnecessary addition to boost the market sales of the device considering its low quality, but on the bright side, users will be able to achieve a level of Bokeh effect on their photos.

The smartphone also sports a 5MP camera with a LED flash on the front for taking selfies.

Connectivity & Software

The Infinix Hot 6 Pro comes with a dual nano-SIM slot and has support for 4G LTE, as expected. You'd be disappointed if you were expecting a USB Type-C port, however, as the device comes with the familiar micro-USB v2.0 port for charging and wired data transfers.

The Infinix Hot 6 Pro runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with Infinix's XOS version 2.3 layered on top.

Infinix Hot 6 Pro Specs

  • 6-inch IPS LCD display with HD+ (720 * 1440) pixel resolution & 18:9 aspect ratio.
  • Weight - 153g.
  • 1.4GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Processor.
  • 3GB RAM.
  • 32GB Internal Memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD.
  • 13MP + 2MP Dual Rear Cameras with PDAF and Dual-tone Dual LED Flash.
  • 5MP Front Camera with LED Flash.
  • Dual Nano-SIM Slot.
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0.
  • 4G LTE.
  • 4000mAh battery.
  • Android 8.0 Oreo with XOS 2.3 (Hummingbird).

Infinix Hot 6 Pro Price and Availability

The Infinix Hot 6 Pro is currently available only in Kenya and can be purchased for Kes. 15,699 in the country. It's coming soon to Nigerian markets where it's expected to cost around N60,000.

Infinix Hot S3 vs Tecno Camon CX - Specs Comparison

The Tecno Camon CX received many accolades when it was launched by Tecno Mobile in 2017, thanks to its superb camera and software features. The Infinix Hot S3 was recently released into the Nigerian market, and one of its selling points is its Snapdragon processor that gives it a performance edge over similarly-specced MediaTek-powered smartphones in the market.

Even though Tecno Mobile launched a new device in the Camon series (Camon CM) early in 2018, it doesn't quite match up to the Camon CX, and the Camon X Pro that was recently launched by the company isn't available for sale yet, so the Camon CX might still be the goto Camon device for some, and this is why we're comparing it with the Hot S3 in this post.

Tecno Camon CX vs Infinix Hot S3

Also, if you're wondering whether it's a good idea upgrading from the Camon CX to the Hot S3, or you're having a hard time picking between the two camera-focused smartphones, this Infinix Hot S3 vs Tecno Camon CX comparison is here to guide you.

Infinix Hot S3 vs Tecno Camon CX - Similarities and Differences

Design & Display

The Camon CX was launched at a time when 18:9 aspect ratio and the word "bezel-less" didn't mean much in smartphones, and thus has a design that's quite 2017-ish, though still good-looking. The Hot S3, on the other hand, has a modern design with minimal bezels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Design-wise the Hot S3 wins.

Tecno Camon CX vs Infinix Hot S3 - Display

The Camon CX excels when it comes to build quality, though; it has a metal unibody design that gives it a premium feel, unlike the Hot S3 that's made of plastic and has an aluminium alloy frame.

Coming to display, the Infinix Hot S3 is larger (5.7 inches) than the Tecno Camon CX (5.5 inches), but the difference in aspect ratio means the former is more comfortable to hold and use than the latter.

The Hot S3 disappoints in terms of display quality, as it comes with an HD+ (720 x 1,440) resolution in contrast to the Camon CX's Full HD (1,080 x 1,920) resolution. Considering that the Hot S3's display is larger than that of the Camon CX, the pixel resolution should have been bumped farther up.

Performance & Memory

The 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750T processor on the Camon CX does a good job of keeping the smartphone running smoothly without lags throughout the day, but the Hot S3 has an edge with it Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor which offers better power efficiency and smoother performance, even though it runs at a slightly lower 1.4GHz maximum speed.

Multi-tasking is more efficient on the Hot S3 with 3GB of RAM compared to 2GB present on the Camon CX, and you have more space to store your files on the Infinix smartphone which comes with 32GB of storage than on the Tecno device that has 16GB by default.

Camera

The Infinix Hot S3 is selfie-centric, coming with a 20MP camera on the front and a 13MP on the rear. The Tecno Camon CX is more balanced, sporting 16MP cameras on both sides. Both produce good images in outdoor conditions, but the front camera on the Hot S3 performs better in low-light conditions while the Camon CX's rear camera outputs images with better clarity and less noise in low-light conditions.

Tecno Camon CX vs Infinix Hot S3 - Camera

The front camera on the Hot S3 can produce bokeh effects on selfies, a feature the Camon CX doesn't have. You also have Face ID and 4x zoom on the rear with the Hot S3, but the ring flash on the rear of the Tecno Camon CX beats that on the Infinix Hot S3.

Battery

The Hot S3 comes with a larger 4,000mAh battery capacity, but the absence of fast charging makes it take more time (around three hours) to charge than the 3,200mAh battery on the Camon CX which charges in a little less than two hours.

Software

Android 7.0 Nougat was the thing when the Camon CX was launched, but it hasn't been updated to the latest version of Android since. The Hot S3 runs on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, sporting more features and software optimizations.

Tecno Camon CX vs Infinix Hot S3 - Software

The Infinix Hot S3 also comes with Face ID, an alternative way of unlocking your smartphone. Though it uses just the front camera and might not be very secure, it's an additional layer of security that the Camon CX doesn't have.

Conclusion

The Infinix Hot S3 has more features than the Camon CX, but that's understandable considering that both smartphones have a whole year between them. It also costs even less than the Camon CX was when it was launched, so it's a worthy upgrade if you're thinking of getting yourself one.

Infinix Note 3 vs Note 2 - Comparison & Specs Sheet

Today we will do a comparison review, that will focus at the specifications and features of the Infinix NOTE 3 versus NOTE 2; or Note 2 VS Note 3, which ever you want to put it.

We won't deny that Note 2 was a great smartphone with its on setbacks, (check out the review here ) but the Note 3 is causing waves already, there are smartphones that you just can't wait to see what they would bring next after a predecessor, most of us are expecting impressive changes but did Note 3 really accomplish that?
We will decide after having a look at the similarities and differences between these two phablets.

Similarities and Differences with Key features of Infinix NOTE 2 and NOTE 3

MEMORY:
The memory of Note 3 is quite a turn off, it's still the same as that of Note 2, potential users may have been expecting something with a 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM or more but we didn't see that.
Perhaps the Infinix Team will consider that in another series of their coming models.

DESIGN:
The design of both of the phablets still look alike, the tiny change was done on the back of the Note 3, and we think that of the Note 3 looks much better and cooler to hold.

DISPLAY:
The display on the Note 3 as seen in the specs will definitely have a more crisp display, Note 3 supports 4K videos.

OPERATING SYSTEM / UI:
Note 3 definitely wins at this, unlike XUI on Note 2, XOS is really slicker with more design qualities and functionalities for users and it comes with a much updated Android version, Marshmallow.

CAMERA:
The rear cameras of both of the devices are the same, although we do not have proof of testing them, the front cameras 2MP for Note 2 is not as good as that of Note 3 because the Note 3 has 5MP front cam, and will definitely be optimised for better performance.

Do you think Note 3 is worth using over Note 2? You may tell us anything you think about these devices below.

Like we had said in our previous post, we need have to ring a bell that overtime INFINIX HOT series had done remarkable improvements, I can't say much about Hot 3 but Hot 4 is definitely worth it.

Before we show you the photos of the device, let's have a quick look at the specifications of the smartphone.

Infinix Hot 4 - Quick Specs

  • Model : Hot 4, Infinix X557
  • Display: 5.5inch (720 x 1280 px HD display)
  • RAM: 2GB RAM
  • Camera: 8MP rear, 5MP front camera
  • Internal Memory: 16GB ROM, support for upto 32GB micro SD
  • CPU: MT6580 (1.3GHz - Quad Core)
  • OS: XOS (Based on Android 6 Marshmallow)
  • Battery: 4,000mAh
  • SIM: Dual SIM micro
  • Extras: Finger-print ID,
  • Connection: WiFi, HotSpot, Bluetooth 4.0

Here are the Unboxing Photos of the Infinix Hot 4 smartphone:

Hot 4 arrived with a differently shaped pack, a rectangular one to be precise, and came with same usual items and accessories:
  • The phone
  • 1x charger head
  • 1x USB cable
  • 1x pair of earphones
  • User manual
As seen below:

The 5.5 inched display device looked pretty neat, although the weight of Hot 4 is NOT so light nor flat, but it was pretty nice to hold. At the top right, there is the 5MP camera, and a tiny red light indicator that I had seen to display only when the battery was low.

The Infinix HOT 4 is clearly the first in the Hot series to feature a finger print scanner, although that feature had first appeared in the Infinix Hot S. Infinix Hot 4 also features a nice 8MP camera right above the scanner with an LED flash at the left.

The back of the black colored model feels very strong and tough too, with a design pattern similar to the first Infinix Hot X507 that debuted 2 years ago.

The right side of the Infinix Hot 4 carries functional buttons, the Volume Up + down keys and the power button. No buttons at the left side.

At the top, you'll find the ear-piece jack, and underneath, you see the charging/USB transfer port.
At the back, after removing the cover, you'll see the device's Dual SIM and Memory card slots, the quality sounding speakers found beneath and featured 4000mAH Non-removable battery.
The battery had been doing great so far.

That's all for now, for those interested in knowing more details about the Hot 4, the device had shown us some really cool things like its 8MP camera abilities (which we are still testing), this is considered as the pros, and of course, it has its cons too, we will come back this week with a full review of the device.

Check out Latest Infinix DNC headphones - Infinix Wearables

The new DNC headphone from Infinix is yet another awesome wearable that was newly launched with the Infinix X-band. The point here that makes this special is the Dual noise cancellation (DNC) when making or answering calls. The DNC headphones can power for more than 10-hrs on a full charge and guarantees an automatic noise cancellation quality (IC) of 95% with Hi-Fi sound.

What came about the Infinix DNC headphones

Some time in November 2015 when Zero 3 was launched, at the event we were told the company had ceased adding headphones (Handsfree) in their flagships at that time. This was noticed since the release of Infinix Note 2, they felt the headphones were rushed hence had poor quality, according to their CEO the plan now is to separately take their time in making quality Infinix headphones which results to the production of the Infinix DNC headphones.

Root Infinix Hot 2 running Android 6 Marshmallow & Change Its IMEI - A working Guide

When you search the web, you'll find there are various posts about how to root your Infinix Hot 2 (running Android 6 Marshmallow) floating already, they're almost everywhere, I wanted to do this long time ago but didn't because I owned another smartphone, hence didn't have time to play with the Hot 2 until now that I got to root mine and changed the IMEI with no errors.
Also note that rooting is now a more important thing to do on Android 6.0 if you want to change the Infinix Hot 2 IMEI.

I'll try to make this guide as simple as possible and "perhaps" different from the ones you may have read else where.
Let's quickly Root the Infinix Hot 2 X510 running Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

REQUIREMENTS -
Your PC (Windows 7 or 8)
Working USB Cable

Things to Download
- Infinix Flash tool => DOWNLOAD HERE
- VCOM drivers=> DOWNLOAD HERE
- Recovery Enabler => DOWNLOAD HERE
- TWRP Recovery For Infinix Hot 2 AndroidOne_X510 => DOWNLOAD HERE
- Super Su for Infinix Hot 2 Marshmallow - Download Here

FIRST STAGE

Once you have all requirements ready...
1. Unzip these downloaded files and keep them on your Desktop - Recovery enabler and TWRP recovery for Hot 2
Secondly, move the Super SU.zip into the Root folder of your Infinix Hot 2. It should look like the Screenshot below when you had moved it.

2. Launch the Infinix Flash tool.exe (Run as Admin)
3. Wait for few minutes
4. Pick up your Hot 2 and activate Developer and USB debug mode(found in Settings). Switch off the phone and remove the Battery.
5. Now Infinix flashtool must have opened, click browser and Select enable recovery button Infinix hot2 a1 >> Select and open MT6580_Android_scatter >> Click Start

6. Now pick up your Infinix Hot 2 (Switched Off & battery removed) and plug in the USB, and wait a few minutes for the file to install into the device. You get a "Download OK" pop-up if successful.

7. Again, flash the TWRP Recovery For Infinix Hot 2 using same steps in 5 and 6. Disconnect the USB when done.

SECOND STAGE

Completing the Rooting Process on the Infinix Hot 2

Flashing that TWRP is what grants you access to the Boot & Recovery Menu.

8. Now enter your Boot Menu, Press and Hold the Power + Volume Up Button
9. From the Menu >>  Select Install >> Select the SuperSu.zip
After the Installation, go back to the Main Menu and select Reboot.

After rebooting, SuperSU app may ask you to Download SUPER SU Installer to complete the Process, just switch your Internet on and Download it, once download it complete, it will install and restart your Device.
Congrats, you've successfully rooted your Hot 2. Use Root checker to Confirm root access.

Changing IMEI on your Infinix Hot 2 (on Android 6.0 Marshmallow)

To do this, Simply Head to Google PlayStore and Install the Chamelphon APK.
It requires root access and will change your Hot 2 IMEI.
Hope this guide was easy for you.

Exclusive Photos of the Infinix #PlayHOT launching This March 2016

Although we are yet to confirm the Specs and Price of the Infinix Hot 3 which is launching this month of March 2016. The new smartphone from the Infinix Mobility will use the hash tag #PlayHOT and be a major upgrade for the HOT series.

Now, for the curious ones, we have some really nice Exclusive Photos of the Infinix Hot 3 here for you as seen below, the photos are few of the first pictures of the smartphone 'Not yet released'.
Like we used to do, this is only a sneak peak.
infinix hot 3

The previous HOT series (Infinix Hot X507 and Hot 2 X510) sported a 5 inches display, this might be different, maybe a 5.5 inches display, who knows?.

The photo also depicts that the upper left and right edges of the Hot 3 are very nicely curved and smooth, very catchy look there. Also, from what we had been hearing, the front camera of the Infinix Hot 3 is going to be tremendous, unique and away from its predecessors that sported the little 2MP front cam.
We are having increased number of people taking selfies daily, Hot 3 might be the perfect device for them.

In a week or two, we will share with us more information about the smartphone, including the specifications and precisely the Price too. Till then :)
